My Macbook Pro display has been making some incredibly annoying whining sounds for a few months now, it used to be when I adjusted it to full brightness the sounds would cease but now it just makes a different, and equally annoying sound at full brightness.

Anyway, I've searched the forums and realized the problem is a faulty display diverter. Problem is that due to traveling I won't be able to get my macbook pro repaired until March. My question is, is there any risk of my screen completely dying before I can get it repaired?

Thanks guys!!

Actually, it's an inverter, not a diverter. If it failed, you'd only lose the backlight, though chances are it would not fail completely. Even if it did, you could still connect to an external display.

remember the gameboy colour? well if you every owned one you'll know that, yes you can see the screen wen their is ample light. you'll also know that the screen always looks ****, colours are always bland, contrast sucks beyong beleif, and you cant use it in the dark, or even slightly dark.

now you say your a traveller, you should be able to use this in airports, they have good lighting, it'll suck but it'll work. If your flying at night, dark sky, you will find it VERY difficult to see your screen, if you can at all.

i mean look you dont really have a choice anyway and the chances of the backlight dieing really i doubt are very high, if it does you'll survive, neway good luck till march.
