Hey all,
So I have a TiBook 1ghz, still running nicely, and I bought a NewerTech battery rated at 5000 mAH for 140 bucks. Supposed to be 15% more than the original, which was rated at 4400 mAH.
So I get the first battery from them, condition it (charge it fully, run it down to dead, recharge), and run Coconut Battery... which said it's at 88% percent capacity...exactly 4400 mAH, out of the "original" 5000 mAH. So I RMA'd the battery and got another one... exact same deal.
Is it possible that CoconutBattery recognizes the 5000 mAH ceiling on the battery, but the TiBook doesn't, as it only shipped with a 4400 capacity? Or is the bottom line that I paid 60 bucks extra for a battery that lasts no longer than the original TiBook one?
Any thoughts? Thanks!
(P.S., I originally ordered a 5000 mAH battery from FastMac, for cheaper, but they apologized and said their shipments "weren't testing up to advertised levels"... so maybe none of these replacement batteries are what they claim to be...
