Dying battery or bad AC adapter tip - iBook G4

In the last few weeks, my iBook G4 battery goes up to only 79% or 90% when plugged in.
I no longer see 99% like I once did.

Wonder if it's a two and a half year battery that is losing steam...
or is it the tip of the AC adapter? (though if it that is the case why would the charge get caught at either of those two levels.)

I'd appreciate your thoughts.

probably not the tip

perhaps you should try running only on battery until your ibook runs down to <5%, then try to fully recharge.
