I've been a long time reader, but this is my first post Thanks for the months of good information. After weeks of debate with myself I made the plunge mostly from all the good reviews and positive feedback I read about the MacBook Pro here on the MacNN forums.

I plan to document 365 days of my experience with Apple on my blog...

Keynote 2 Keynote

Does anyone know of any online communities comprised mostly of 'switchers'? Also, I'm looking for some good Apple related blogs to subscribe to.

Thanks again! I look forward to contributing to the MacNN community now that I'm an Apple owner

first of all, welcome to the mac community. I personally started using macs about 1.5 years ago and started off with a G4 1.25ghz mac mini purchased from this forum.

the best apple blog i know of is The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)

Thanks for the link. I'll be sure to bookmark tuaw. I'm really excited about my MBP. Especially since its got better specs than my PC desktop and its portable!

Another thing is that users are helpful and excited about their choice in computer/os. On the flip side, a lot of people using Windows are pretty negative about it. I have yet to meet someone who uses a Mac (by choice) that is negative about it. I think that Apple has done well to build a positive community and keep their customers happy.

That's very cool - I got you bookmarked. I'll be looking forward to seeing what your experience is like over the year!

I think you're right; there is a lot of negativity on the PC side, even among the hardcore users. I work with a couple of dorks who scoff at having to use Macs in my department, yet they'd be oblivously "happier" working on a high maintenance machine. Good luck with your experience! I may be joining the ranks of MBP users in a few months, myself.

Welcome... their is no going back now, you are a disciple of Mr. Jobs. Being a Mac user since the early 90's, I tried PC's for a year when my G4 Quicksilver fried 2 weeks after my 1 year of Applecare expired ( My fault for not buying the additional two years ) and I swore Apple off and ran out and bought a HP Laptop..... Long Story. But I gave that to my wife, and I bought a Powerbook G4 and have been a Mac ( Portable Only ) Since then. Welcome, congrats, this is a great community, and have fun!
