point them to this dell, which has way inferior software, the same specs essentially, except a superior graphics card, and is $1000AUD more than the top of the range macbook bro! FOR A GRAPHICS CARD!!!!

Link: Dell Recommended XPS

upon further inspecition the dell has a 3yr warranty included so including applecare is only fair, that makes the price difference still $500! And lets also note that this notebook isnt anywhere near as thin or light as the macbook pro, so what are you paying the extra 500 for?
a better graphics card!

That makes them atleast evenly priced if not the dell overprice, there are 100's more examples of this, so to those that say macs r rip offs, eat my anus. =P

Actually, that notebook costs $5,399 - which is about $2,600 more than the macbook pro counterpart. Still pretty ridiculous considering what you end up with. And in my opinion, blazing graphics don't make you feel better when you have to reboot twice a day.

You know, I have a Windows box as well which has been up since the last update. I never reboot it unless I have to patch the box.
So the argument that you have to reboot windows twice a day is bogus.
Now the price difference is something else. Besides I would never pay that much for a Dell laptop. Their quality has been declining throughout the years.

Thanks for that, sometimes the reassurance of PC's sucking is something that needs to be done every couple of days.

Are you ignoring the much better (and more expensive) graphics card, higher resolution display, and better warranty on purpose or out of ignorance?

No, but I think its a fair compromise if you're still into the whole "macs are better thing" Which I think that most of us here are, if you're not then that explains why you constantly support dell.

I'm not sure what "fair compromise" has to do with it. Dell is putting more expensive components into the computer, and providing more expensive support, so the computer costs more.

FWIW, I'd never buy the linked-to machine in a million years. But I think its price tag is well justified.
