I have a 14inch 700mhz dual usb ibook that will no longer turn on. At first I bought a new power cord cause mine was bad. That didn't work so I also bought a new battery. Still no luck. Anyone know what the problem could be or what I can do to fix it?

Could be a great number of things.

First guess is that the logic board is bad. A fried board won't turn on. Another possibility is bad RAM. If the iBook has extra RAM in addition to the built-in 128MB, remove that stick and try to turn it on.

You said your power cord was bad - how so? Did a power surge kill it? Did you wake up one morning and it was visibly damaged? A surge in the power cord could have traveled to the connection on the iBook, shorting the power connections on the logic board. The only easy replacement at that point would be to replace the entire logic board.

The only hardware that I'm aware of that can cause a laptop to be completely unresponsive are the motherboard/logic board and the RAM. Since its a laptop, there's no separate power supply, so if the power supply burns out or shorts out, the only way to replace it is to replace the board.
For all the trash I talk, I sure own a lot of Macs...

First, please specify what you mean by "won't turn on." You'd be surprised how many people say this, but actually, the computer turns on just fine, just can't boot.

So, is it:

1. Not turning on AT ALL. As in no power anywhere, no sounds, no chime, no power to the caps lock key.

2. Making noises, but screen doesn't come on at all.

3. Turns on, screen comes on, but cannot load OS or can't get past a part of the booting sequence.

If it doesn't TURN ON AT ALL... then it's your logic board.
