Recently bought a used powerbook, got it for reallll cheap off a friend, now the problem is whenever I try to run a .dmg file it gives me the error "Device not configured" and it wont run that program, also, the wireless will lose signal sometimes and then I cant even find the network again, has anyone encountered the original problem I posted with their powerbook? Anything I try to download wont work, did repair and verify disks and it didnt work. Would a fresh install of OSX fix this problem?

It would most likely fix the problem you're having with disk images (.dmgs). It probably would not fix wireless signal issues. How often are you losing the signal, and does it happen with other wireless hot spots?

ya, if the laptop goes to sleep it loses the signal, happens on every hotspot, but its been going strong for 1 hour now, I dont use this laptop heavily, just to browse sites, emails, msn and homework, thing is, the battery capacity is like 60% now which sucks, I only get like 1 hour and 10 minutes out of it lol, oh well, for $300 I cant go wrong...guess all I have to do now is get the OSX disk and reformat....I have a backup of OSX on my pc, but I have no way of getting that file (no dvd burner on my pc) so is there anyway I can transfer it to my mac? I tried to setup a virtual network to transfer files but it wouldnt work, and I dont have a firewire, maybe FTP would do the trick? cause once I get the OSX file onto my mac, I can burn it and hopefully fix this mac

btw, is it a pain to reformat?
