I have got a MBP intel core duo 2.0GHz. I have got a resolution of 1440 x 900 when just using my MBP alone. When I hook up a 20" external monitor I get a resolution of 1680 X 1050 on the 20" external. Is there a way that I can get better resolution out of either of the 2?

Internal, no. External depends on the capabilities of the display. Chances are you'd have no problems driving the highest resolution of the external display which may be 1680x1050. If there are other resolutions, people here are always talking about SwitchResX.

How is it that I am seeing in peoples comments, at the bottom of each of there posts, about there MBP they are showing a resolution of 1920 x 1080. How is that possible and why can't I get that?

a few powerbooks were shipped with HD displays for a short while but were pulled after some issues came up with lines appearing on the display. your mbp has an internal resolution of 1440 x 900, it cannot go higher than this for your internal display. your external display is probably a widescreen 20" lcd which has a maximum resolution of 1680 x 1050. if you want a higher resolution, purchase a larger external display. your mbp could handle up to a 30" lcd.

No PowerBook has ever shipped with a 1920x1080 (HD) or better display.

Yeah, I never heard that either. That would have been big news.
