the question is... update with what? except LED screens, there aren't any current major updates that would warrant having a refresh. Also, why would they put in the new technology in the macbooks first without offering the best features on the pro line. people have already put their thoughts in other threads. Searching the forums will give you the best results. Some keywords to look for are "Robson" (the new chipset or whatnot from intel that will be arriving Q2)

....and consider putting a question mark after your title "update soon." it may seem presumptuous that you have a statement about an update rather than having a question asking for pure speculation.

Apple usually updates their product lines now without doing so at a major event. The last few updates (except for the Mac Pro) have been done with just a simple PR release and an updated front web page on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

These last MacBooks were released on November 8th, 2006 so you're looking at the first week of May for the next revision.

(Although the Mac mini's will probably be updated in the next few weeks.)

If anything they would update the MBP first. LED screens and the Santa Rosa chipset are obvious candidates. The latter won't be released until April though.
