I just replace my oem Appl DVD drive in my 15" 1.67ghz hs PB. Upon startup the drive door closed with no disc in. Now I cannot get it to open. I can hear it spinning / scanning. Any suggestion? This is a panasonic from OWC.

What do you mean by the 'drive door'? This is a slot loading drive, right?

It is indeed a slot loading DVD drive. For lack of words I should have said " slot entrance". The entrance was block as if there is a disc in there.

turn off your lappy and then restart while holding down the space bar or the clicker under the track pad (i can't remember which, might have to try them both out) and see if there is an eject sound (even though there isnt anything in it) if there is, might of just been a weird defect. if it happens again, call who ever you need to

It's always possible - do you have access to another machine you can test it on?

You're thinking of the mouse button.

Sometimes you can stick a paperclip or small screwdriver in right side of drive to trip release switch.
