hi i am a new mac user. i have installation disk for ms office from my old machine. Can i install MS office on my ibook G3 which runs MAC OS 9.2? or do I have to get special MS office versions for MAC? Also, any special procedure when installing MS office on MAC? I put the MS offfice installation disk in the ibook and tried to run SETUP.EXE but the ibook keeps giving me an error, something like, "the program used to create this file is not ...." please advise. thanks!

If the Office disks from your "old machine" are the Windows version of Office, you can't use it and have to buy the new Office:mac software.

Get a version of OSX. It has to be an older one though, to run on the G3. I run OSX.2 on my iMac G3. Not very bad at all. I have Office 2003 for Mac on it.

Clarification to my previous post... Office:mac 2001 will run on OS 9. Office:mac 2004, which technically still is the newest version of Office:mac, requires OS X.
