so i have the 5.1 speakers they are Logitech X-530's 70 Watt (yes not the most high-end but ok for budget 5.1) any way they have this converter http://images10.newegg.com/NeweggIma...121-118-11.jpg which takes the 3 pins ( front audio R+L, Sub & Center speaker, and surround R+L) and converts them into RCA (also known as AV) Red and White connectors. Now i have the Red and White RCA/AV connectors that go into 3.5mm audo (standard headphone port) and that in turn goes into the MBP....now thats a lot of converting i know!

The audio that i'm getting isn't 5.1, it plays through all of the speakers but the sound is actually 2.1 going through all the speakers if that makes sense.

i'm trying to find a 3 pin connector that will lead into usb...yes i have found one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829126101 buuuuut it seems that only PC's will actually get the 5.1 audio ( i looked it up) if anyone knows the solution to this i would be very greatful i loved my 5.1 on my PC now i just wish i could have it on my Mac because that's all i've been using for over a year now.

This should do exactly what you want:

Griffin Technology: FireWave - Surround Sound for Mac

It will plug into your Firewire port, and provide you with the three connectors your speakers have.

Other than that you would have to use the Optical Audio port, but that would require a fancy digital decoder (e.g. the Creative DDTS-100).

The port you currently use is stereo, hence theres no way, no matter how many adapters you sue, that you can get 5.1 out of it.
