a friend of mine just bought a new macbook - i bought mine about 6 months ago. his isight camera produces a much sharper and higher contrast image than mine, and his screen gets quite a bit brighter.

have there been changes made to these devices?

mine is a macbook 1,1 while his is a macbook 2,1 listed under hardwear overview.
thanks!

The Macbooks were updated to Core 2 Duo, so they probably improved the cameras as well.

well, the quality seems to be less good in two ways - camera more contrasty so distinguishing between dark colours is not possible, and the brightness of the screen is deceptive and hard to calibrate.
so neither seems an improvement, in actual fact.
i haven't heard anything about them changing the cameras or the screens, so i am thinking there is a software change maybe...
