I'm in the process of troubleshooting daily kernel panics. Under Apple's direction, I performed a "archive and install" without migrating to get a clean start, to see if any third party apps are causing trouble.
The system boots clean, no third party apps on start-up. The next day...kernel panic.
Each panic seems to follow the same pattern: Run fine all day on my campus wireless LAN, close the lid to sleep. I get home, open the lid, and a KP comes up within seconds. Sometimes I get to enter in the screen saver password, sometimes it KPs right away.

Each time, the same type of error comes up in the error log-page fault. OK, I'm not running stock memory; I upgraded to 2x1 GB sticks of DDR 2 PC5300 PNY RAM. I popped one out, so I'm running on 1 GB of memory in one slot (0).
It will be a few days before I can start to tell if it helped with the KPs, but on boot, the system just "felt faster." The top row icons seemed to come up nearly instantly and all at the same time. Maybe I expected the machine to be slower and perceiving a lack of slowing as "faster."
Is it possible that a bad RAM card can cause a slowdown but not trip a hardware test failure?
Upcoming steps:
If a KP comes up again, is swap memory cards to put the second 1 GB card in and go again.
If I get a KP, I repeat the cycle, using slot 1 instead of slot 0.
KP after that, turn AirPort off before sleep and on after wake.
Any other ideas?
