... and guess what, the iBook's hard drive that belongs to my daughter is pretty much unbootable, and unfixable. Already had Apple repair the backlight (and motherboard, apparently) a day before AppleCare ran out (bought used, oh well, thanks anyway Grampa).

So.

Where/what/ model HDD should we get? She likes "designing" web pages in iWeb (brilliant little 7 year old!), and plays around drawing and printing. Music is already on the network on the server.

Thoughts?

Ease of install, etc.?

Sounds like something small will be fine for her. 60GB is $55 and there's not much point going below that since they don't get much cheaper.

As with all laptops before the MacBook, installation is a pain. ifixit.com has the guide if you'd like to try. CompUSA will do the swap for $30.

CompUSA is also closing 126 stores nation wide, so you might want to jump on that before they close a store near you!
