I was wondering if anyone knows if the Shure i3c will work with Skype. Specifically, I am pretty certain that the headphones will work fine, but does anyone know if the built in mic will work with my MacBook's audio out port?

Yes it will. Skype allows you to select which sound input and output devices you want. I've used Skype to send input and output to my Motorola Bluetooth headset adapter. I've also used it such that it sends output to the sound out port (Sennheiser speaksers) while using the built-in mic. The built-in mic isn't that great as it picks up other sounds, though.

Thanks all for the responses, but I think it will not work b/c AFAIK the MacBook miniplug doesn't have the ability to act as a mic. Also, I found this on the Skype website. I think the difference is that gino is using Bluetooth, and not the sound out port.

The issue is that PC headsets with miniplugs are mic level while the Mac's miniplug input is line level. Consider a USB or bluetooth headset instead. Alternatively you could use a USB adapter like the Griffin imic.

Oh! My mistake. When you mentioned "built-in mic", I was assuming you referred to the MacBook's built-in Mic and not the Shure's mic. Sorry about that.
