Hi all,

I need help from all you smart people out there. I will try to make my long story a little shorter...

I bought and installed a replacement battery from newer technology to replace my original battery on my ibook G4 1.33 mghz. The next morning I turn on my computer, and it loads normally, I see my normal desktop, and then the screen flashes dark grey on and off. Sometimes the grey screen stays for 2 sec, other times 15 seconds. There is no rhyme or reason to how often this grey screen pops up and for how long it stays.

Tried resetting the pram, nvram, power management unit, starting up in safe mode, running the hardware check cd (normal) and a few other things a mac friend took me through. Folks at newer technology think that my power management unit failed or my backlight failed (both are not worth repairing, making me buy a new machine). Of course newer technology refuse to take any responsibility.

Any ideas? I am probably going to bring it in for diagnostic testing before buying a new machine, but is it even worth it to do that?

Backlights don't fail often. And I have never seen a PMU failure. On any Mac laptop.

If a PMU failure was confirmed by a third party, I would definitely talk to Newertech again.

Any ideas as to what else could be wrong? The original battery is back in by the way.
