Anyone share a solution? Just received from apple c2d (2.16), and the fans have been on high since I turned it on. Been transferring (FW) from 12 inch and it is dead silent.

Thanks,

Tomb

Open Activity Monitor and check if there's a process using up all your CPU.

Does the problem persist after a reboot?

Thanks for response.
Activity Monitor shows about 95% idle. I.e. fan is on now b/c of all the hard work Safari is doing. This is really annoying. Called Applecare, and all he could do was tell me to reset pram.

Yes, also occurs after reboot

Any ideas?

Download smcFanControl and see what temperatures are being reported. Maybe a temp sensor isn't properly connected.

Run the AHT (boot from the install DVD and press d) and see if it reports a hardware defect.

Thanks Simon,

ran the HT; got Error 4MOT/1/40000003: Left Side

I assume this probably has something to do with the fan, since it is the left fan that is on.

Guess tme to call applecare
