I sent in my MacBook yesterday to the 5th Avenue Apple Store to get my top case replaced since it's cracked. Apparently the bottom case needs to be replaced as well... the store has both of those parts in stock, and I was told that it would be a really quick repair, but apparently I need one more thing, something the store doesn't have... screws. I got a call yesterday afternoon saying that they ordered screws from the warehouse, but after checking up today, apparently they haven't recieved them yet.

Anyone here have any ideas as to how long it usually takes for something like a set of screws to get from a warehouse to the store? Since it's the 5th Avenue flagship store, I'd imagine it has some sort of priority over others...

BTW, they cant use the screws from my MacBook because I'm missing some since I had tried to fix the problem myself (I was under the impression Apple doesn't cover cosmetic damages). Yes, I know I voided my warranty and I'm paying for this repair.

Well, I'm sorry, but it appears that the problem is that you lost the screws on a DIY repair. If you'd just taken it there, they could have done it immediately under warranty. I feel for you, but...

I was well aware of the missing screws before taking it there, but I had figured that if they have top and bottom cases in stock, then surely they'd have something as simple as screws in stock. All I really want to know is how long it would normally take for something like that to be shipped from the warehouse to the store.

i've had problems with a logic board not being in stock for my imac. i waited 4 weeks and was probably more patient than i should've been. i got fed up and called apple and they called me back, saying that they would prioritize the shipping of my logic board to my authorized apple service provider. and gave me a tracking number for the part.

under normal circumstances, apple parts are shipped from the warehouse to the destination using DHL or Fedex overnight. (i say "destination" because mine was shipped to an authorized apple service provider since there isn't an apple store within 2 hours of me)

good luck

Hopefully you're right... after all, I *did* get the call saying that my MacBook needed screws at around 5pm yesterday which I would imagine would be too late for it to be delivered the next morning.

Hopefully tomorrow will yield some good news for me.

Update: Guess things arent sent overnight from the warehouse to the Apple store. Apparently the screws haven't arrived yet and they're coming in from California, so who the hell knows how long this will take.

In Europe we get everything from a warehouse in Holland. If they have it in stock, its supposed to be delivered in 48 hours.
