i installed windows xp onto my macbook and i am playing a game called knight online, it's an older MMORPG game. my macbook meets all the recommended requirements to play the game.

everytime i load up the game, i can start to hear the fans get louder and louder and the vent right below the screen starts to get hot. i have a program called "SpeedFan" to monitor the computers temperature and the computer doesn't get much hotter than when it is just on the desktop.

is there anyway to get the fans to slow down.. the CPU usage for the game is around 40%.

thanks

i don't think you would want the fans to slow down. given that the macbook is more passively cooled than other pc laptops, the fan noise is a tradeoff.

here's a hint: don't install vista. vista will make the macbook hot even while doing nothing! the cpu/ram gadgets show that vista is constantly running processes/maintenance in the background. I went ahead and installed media center 2005 but vista is staying away from my macs.

My mom's dell notebook crashed 5 minutes after she installed vista on it, and she has 1GB ram, 128 MB video card and 1.66GHz core duo. Nice microsoft. Real nice.
