Put a $ as the first character of your WEP password. There's many technical reasons why this is so, but for some reason if you're using a linksys, or other non-airport base station (the base station is the Wireless Access Point or WAP to your wired internet) you need to do this if using WEP security.

Go to our Networking forum for LOTS of help on getting everything networked.

As for your WEP password, My very first thought is "dump WEP and use WPA. All current networking hardware supports WPA, and that's good because where WPA is a truly secure system, WEP is NOT secure; it's almost trivial to break its encryption, so WEP gives you a false sense of security.

Walkerjs gave good advice, but with WPA you don't need to go through any hoops because the passphrase to key process is part of the standard, which is not true with WEP.

I'll move this to the appropriate forum for you, and WELCOME to the MacNN Forums!
