Hi there antoinasia,
Clicking noises,(probably metallic) freezing mmnn ...sounds like the hard drive is about to expire.
Make sure you back up any important data to an external HD or if you dont have one, burn any data to a CD. Then, if it's still under Apple warranty get the HD replaced by Apple. Phone the Apple Customer Care help line, tell them the situation and ask their advice.
Or take it to your nearest Apple store or re-seller for examination, they will replace the HD under warranty (if any - if not, you will have to pay) also they might, just might, take the data off your soon to be defunct HD before it finally dies and load it onto the new one for you - if you can't do it yourself of course!
Good luck and let us know what happened,
voicebox

If you take it to an Apple store, make sure you call ahead and reserve your spot. Otherwise you could have to wait a few hours before you even get to talk to the guy.
