My friend bought a MacBook Pro last night, brought it home and it had major screen darkness issues, couldn't be viewed from any angle without inconsistent coloration, et cetera.

So he calls Apple, they tell him to bring it to an Apple store for a simple exchange. I won't even go into the 25 minute 'Apple said they would exchange this, so you get to do that anyway' argument. And now on boot, check this out:

*VIDEO*

The video is scrambled and all uckfupped. Until it gets to Mac OS X... but booting from a CD, AHT, whatever - it's all nasty. Rar!

The worst part, its an 82 mile drive, thats right, 82 miles each way, from his house to the closest Apple store. I'm simply shocked at the lack of customer service that this Apple retail store has given to this issue. Before anyone says it, my friend is an expert who's been using Apple hardware and software for over two decades and he's a programmer.

He was given the run around by someone at the Apple store, even after he had dealt directly with Apple to authorize the exchange before driving out there. So, this is computer #2 from them that has issues.

They wouldn't send you a box? With my first Mac Mini, I told them I cant make the 30-min drive to the Apple store, so they sent me a big box overnight and I got a brand new Mini in less than a week.

I agree, they cannot read your mind.... if your friend did not want to make the trip..... he should have said so..... they would have stepped up, taken care of the problem quickly.

Not to mention, you can understand what their customer service rep. are talking about.
