Hello,

I recently purchased a used TiBook 550Mhz. It has "only" a 20GB harddisk and I had an external case with a 60BG that I did not use, so I put it into the PB.
The result is that I can partition it, but OS X 10.4 says it can't install on the partitions I've created (3x 20BG).
The hard disk is a Samsung. Is this a hardware limitation, does my PB only accept some makes? Is there a workaround?

I'm no Macintosh specialist and Google didn't help so far.

No, you PowerBook has no size limit (save that UATA 2.5" drives top out at 160GB right now) or brand limitations. Make sure that when you partition, under "options" in Disk Utility you use the APM partitioning scheme (as opposed to MBR or GUID). OS X can only boot from APM partitioned drives on PPC Macs.

Thank your for your suggestion - actually I have just found that out myself. I decided to repartition in case something had gone wrong and looked at "options". I don't know if this is new to recent versions of Mac OS X, because I never paid attention before, but clearly my partition table was "pc". Now it's "Mac" again and the system accepts to install.

The TiBook is limited to 128 Gb for your information. Glad you fixed it though
