I connected my Logitech speakers to my MB. I've 4 speakers and 1 sub woofer.. it seems the main 2 are working but the other 2 surround speakers aren't. I'm guessing there isn't a sound card that can adjust like what PC has for my creative sound card. Furthermore, I checked systempref>sound in which the OUTPUT is set on headphones.

I'm guessing this is the best i can get connecting a speaker to my MB? So, i'm running two main speakers and the woofer only. Any suggestions or applications/plug-ins that can activate my other 2 speakers.

BTW, there's only 1 slot to connect my speakers and that is the "headphone's logo".. right?

You can't get 4.1 surround out of a MB without speaker with optical digital input - however, you can buy a 3.5mm audiojack splitter which will at least give you sound out of all 4 speakers. Note that this will not be true "surround sound".

You can't? What's the point of an optical port, then?

It's not that the MacBook doesn't support surround sound through optical, it's that the speakers don't - they use two 3.5mm audio jacks instead.

How are you currently connecting your speakers to you MB? You've probably got an extra connector sticking out of the speakers, right?

As Mister Elf said, you can get the other two working by using a mini-jack line splitter, but you won't get surround. If you need surround, you need something with an optical line-in. For example, I've got an Extigy ($50-$100 on Ebay) that acts as a receiver/Dolby decoder for my 5.1's. It's got a variety of inputs, including optical and USB. I've got my dvd player, pc and iPod hooked up to it. I haven't yet plugged my MacBook into it.

Alternatively, you could get a set of speakers with an optical input.
