well here is the story;
i was at my office, and i was putting it up on a shelf out of way wher people were walking, and little did i know that there was space between the wall and the shelf about a foot of room. so it fell the full 6 feet and i was freaking out for 30 minutes while the maitnence workers had to take the whole shelf apart because it was a built in shelf.
pics;

sorry about the fuzzy pics. all it did was bend the case, separated metal from optical drive, and wont close fully. from a 6 foot fall, excuse my language but damn these things are tough i thought the screen would be broken for sure.

well at least it didnt end up like this computer

a guy tried to mug another guy in brazil or sumthin and the guy being mugged wouldnt let go of his mbp so the mugger tried to shoot the mugee' and it hit his mbp and saved the mugee's life and his mbp still works!

but as for me im goin to get a new case

thanks

I had my Powerbook for about a week before someone knocked by laptop bag off of an art stool (about 4-6 inches shorter than your average bar stool). Needless to say, I was pissed - one that the person was so careless and two that the fancy bag with al its padding didn't protect the corners well. So I can always recognize mine in the pile by the slightly dented corner, but it works well. On the downside, one of the spacers for the LCD lid was bashed in and keys started rubbing the screen.

If you're in this situation, don't try and have the part replaced. It costs quite a bit ($hundreds), as small and cheap as the part is because they have to take off the display and open it up (lots of time invested in that). A simple solution is to get a cloth to sit on top of your keys. Mine was only $10 from radtech and doubles for an on-the-go screen cleaner.

Cheers.

Actually I have dropped my PB G4 twice onto the floor from my lab-benchtop - a drop of a metre and a bit. Despite buggered corners and a few dents and bends here and there, it is still working beautifully

Had this been a plastic PC, it would have been dead in mid-air during the first drop...!
