Where can I get 1GB stick for a MBP for a good price and what brand works best for you guys?

Had good results with Crucial and Newegg: 1GB Crucial DDR2 667 SO-DIMM for $70.

Crucial is great, OWC is also excellent: OWC: Apple Mac G4 upgrades, Laptop Batteries, Memory, Drives. Newegg makes both good and bad products available. IMO reardless of price one should never consider any RAM except best quality from best quality vendors because the consequences of lame RAM can be huge.

I bought some Patriot RAM from NewEgg for my MBP... never had a problem with it.

Crucial. I took advantage of the that deal on newegg. Installed on Friday and the MBP has been quite zippy.

I would definitely go with crucial, thats what I put in my macbook and it works great. I am a little pissed however that it is only $70 now as I paid about $130 for it a few months back

I recommend OWC for ram. I have no experience with crucial, but it is made by the same company that makes the isight

I have heard they are pretty good as well.

I had a memory distriubot get me the same model Samsung OEM module that shipped with my MBP C2D. The best advice is to try to get a matched pair not only in terms of size but also in terms of brand/model and spec to enable dual channel access. Kingston ValueRAM had worked well.

Otherwise, a company called "Nanya" which supplies a small amount of OEM memory to Apple is quite good and inexpensive compared to other tier 1 manufacturers since it is a relatively unknown company.

2 x 1GB Mushkin ram in my Macbook Pro.... cool name, and runs just as good as the rest (according to tests).

Edit: Just checked specs and they are actually CL5, so maybe thats why the price is higher then the rest (value ram etc).

All currently shipping 667 MHz SODIMMs are CAS Latency 5.0 (CL5)
This specification, the lower is better, generally, however there has been no indication from Apple that any of the Macintoshes that use DDR or DDR2 RAM can benefit from lower latency modules. On PCs, overclockers use expensive low latency and/or higher MHz DDR2 RAM, however this requires BIOS changes to adjust the motherboard timings and usually to increase the memory buss voltage... that's a no fly zone on any Mac.

I added a 2 GB DIMM from OWC to my 17" C2D MBP months ago and it works fine, total 3 GB. I put the 1 GB DIMM I took out of my MBP into my dad's MBP that originally came with 2x512. The RAM work is really easy once you have the appropriate tiny screwdriver.
