dont worry about that number, no one uses that. Just go to macsales.com and you will be able to pick your ibook through a list. I like OWC (macsales.com) better than crucial (as some others may recommend) because they are usually cheaper and still have good ram.

I recommmend this over newegg because OWC has a wizard so you dont have to go digging for numbers, ect.

Dont get it from ramjet.com

Physically replacing it requires a #0 Phillips screw driver and your fingernails... Some people recommend shutting down the computer, I do(!) Pull the battery so you don't start the computer if you accidentally hit the power button. The keyboard has two spring loaded tabs next to the Escape key and the F12 key, pull them down and the keyboard hinges open. Remove the Airport card and the screws that hold down the heat exchange plate. There ya go!

You have to shut down the computer. I have never heard of someone not shutting down the computer.
You replace the module just as sherman said..... i believe apple has instructions.

i will note that the ram slot is flat and spring loaded, but you basically put it in diagonallly and push down so the clip catches the ram.

What are the specs of your system? (processor speed is what i need)

Instructions for upgrading are readily available. Any PC100 or PC133 SO-DIMM (144 pin SDRAM module) will work with your iBook. OWC seems to have decent prices for what you need. Don't forget to discharge any static electricity buildup before handling the RAM.

I've got an ibook G3 900MHz PowerPC with 256 MB SDRAM working with the 10.3.9 mac osx.

SInce the 'security updates' that came out in late 2006, my baby has been loosing speed and its getting critical, since most of my work depends on it.

I need to upgrade.
1 -. What do you recommend?
2 -. Where in Europe (i'm in Portugal" can I find the best deals?

Thank you for your help.

Security updates should have nothing to do with speed. Perhaps you need to reinstall the OS.
