since one of the updates, i cannot remember which one i am having weird fan issues.
the issues are as follows.
Previous to the issue, my fan would crank up to the amount of usage and then cut back down only being loud for a couple of minutes at the most.
Now as useage ramps so does the fan. but shortly after one of the updates, the fan has been running and staying running. this is very odd please help that only time the fan slows is when you shut it down.

Are you talking about the SMC Firmware update by any chance?

At any rate, you have checked your Energy Saver settings, right? Have a look at Activity Monitor to make sure there's no runaway background process. Finally, check what temperature your machine is running at.

Might help to know if this is a Core Duo or Core 2 Duo system.

The fan on my 17" 3 GB RAM C2D MBP almost never comes on, even running Aperture. The OS is always kept current, with Permissions always repaired immediately before and after all installs of any type.
