alright, so i'm ready to make the switch to a mac... i can't believe what i've been missing! like many people i was waiting for leopard, but seeing as it's now not coming until october, i need some advice.

I'm looking to get a macbook pro, but i don't want to go and buy one now only to find that apple is going to release new hardware to coincide with leopard. I'm in no major rush to get a laptop, but i have to say the excitement of getting my first mac has me quite impatient. How often does apple release hardware updates? do these come with upgrades to the OS? will i feel ripped off if i spend a considerable amount of money on a macbook pro (which i don't exactly NEED until school starts again in september)? It appears as though apple doesn't exactly announce new hardware release dates, but instead says "surprise, it's here today!" should i wait?

From what I have witnesses new hardware comes about once every 6 to 8 months.

Intel will release Centrino Pro (Santa Rosa + friends) in early May (faster CPUs, faster FSB, more (and maybe faster) memory, flash memory acceleration, WiMAX (and maybe 3G data), etc); I'd expect Apple to upgrade the MacBook Pro ASAP.
