hi all im new to macs and i just purchased a 2nd hand macbook 2ghz 80gb hd and 1 gb ram.

I want to check all hardware and components are working properly is there any free software i can download to do all these diagnostic checks?

is there anything else worth checking on the macbook?

so far the macbook is running fine. Any help would be greatly appriciated thanks...

If you click on the Apple menu>About this Mac>More Info and then have a look through that, if anything isn't working I think that's where you would find out.

Boot the Macbook using the Startup DVD (you DID get the software discs with it, right?) and run the Apple Hardware Test.

Apple gives you a hardware test program on Install Disc 1 (you got the discs, right?). Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the machine. Right after you hear the chimes, press and hold the D key until the machine boots to the hardware test.
