The internal drive in my 12" Powerbook died recently. If I were to order the new drive myself, how much should I expect to pay, per fair market price, for the labor of a professional to open my Powerbook and install the new drive?
Hehe, I JUST replaced my own 12" PB Internal HD because it was dying. I bought a Seagate 80GB Internal HD (Replacing the original 40GB) at CompUSA for $98 (Including tax) and decided to install it myself -- I've never done ANYTHING like that before, but in the end it was a successful upgrade
Although I did purchase an External 250GB HD to save everything from my dying HD
for about $85. Totaling all my purchases for this upgrade to $183.
Apple or your typical Mac specialty store will want $300-350+ (depends on size).
Or you can buy the drive you want from here ($80 for 100GB, $93 for 120GB, $125 for 160GB) and CompUSA will do the swap for $30 if you're not comfortable doing it yourself.
