I recently purchased a Macbook and I have been getting some kind of feedback/noise through my speakers when they are hooked up. I have an Altec Lansing 4.1 system. I had a G4 ibook before this and never had this problem. I me( and i could be way wrong) it sounds like they are picking up something from my external hard drive i have hooked up to my airport extreme. It sounds like a clicking/fluttering noise(?). Has anyone had this/heard of something like this or know of a way to fix this problem?

Thanks for the help. - David

P.S. -I wasnt sure if this should be posted in the Consumer Hardware & Components section, so if i posted it in the wrong area could some one move it? Thanks

Does the sound go away when you turn off the hard drive?

I would check the Sound settings in the System Preferences. In the Input tab, there is an option to reduce the ambient noise and an adjustment for the microphone volume...try checking the ambient noise reduction box and turn the mic gain down below half.

That's what immediately comes to mind.
