I purchased a MacBook in October 2006 (mid-range white model, Core Duo, 2.0 GHz) and sold it to upgrade to my current Black MacBook Core 2 Duo. I swear the sound is better on the black one, even though I think most of the hardware is the same. Is it my imagination?

Did you have 10.4.8 on the first one? I believe that with the 10.4.9 update the speakers got quite louder. At least thats what I noticed on my macbook.
