Hi there, here is my first post. Hope i get it right. I would like to link my PowerBook G4 Laptop, which uses a wireless connection to the router in the house for internet access, to my Windows based Desktop CPU which is hard wired into the router. We have frequent issues at home, when my kids are doing their homework. Since they don't always use the same computer, first come first serve, the one on the laptop needs to be able to retrieve WORD formatted documents from the Desktop CPU without having to interrupt there sibling. Is it possible to do this wirelessly? even though they have 2 entirely different operating systems? Or, am i asking a dumb question. If it is possible, please tell me how. I am rather computer illiterate, so if you could be very explicit, step-by-step, i would be so very thankful. This will also bring much peace to our household.

This really should be in the networking forum, but probably the easiest thing to do is make sure file sharing is enabled on the PC. Then, in the Finder, from the Go menu, select Connect to server. Type in "smb://<PC IP address>". The PC's IP address can be found in the ethernet network connection info. You should then be able to mount the PC's hard drive on the Mac's desktop.

Or you could check out that handy Help menu and do a search for "file sharing."
