I have a 12" powerbook G4 1ghz (rev b).I am about to purchase a 1680x1050 lcd panel for my pc desktop but was wondering whats the highest resolution the notebook can output. I fear that my 3.5 year old notebook can output that high just in case id like to plug it into the lcd...

You can go up to 2048 x 1536. You'll be fine.
