My MacBook shows "No batteries available". I ran down the battery completely watching a movie. When I power the MacBook with AC it works fine. But, the battery is not available per iStat and the battery icon on top of the screen. If I unplug the A/C the computer shuts off.

I have restarted numerous times and reset the computer per Apple by unplugging it, removing the battery and pushing down on the power button for five seconds.

Does anyone have any ideas what is going on?

The only thing that could have affected my computer was that it was stored in my motorcycle saddle bag before this occured. (Well padded)

Mac said that if you are getting problems like the one you are describing you can get a new battery if you have less than something like 300 cycles on it. So go to an apple store and see if you can get a new one (or at least get the problem fixed). Good luck!
I was able to pay for my new macbook
just by trying out products from home.

Well I went a got a new battery because it stopped working after 10 months. Apple gave me a new one 2 WEEKS before that battery update came out.

All was fine and a week after I got it the battery update came out which was supposed to fix any battery issues. One week after that with only 12 cycles on it the battery also died completely.

Went to the apple store AGAIN and they said this is common and one customer has gone through 3 of them.

When I ask how long this battery is covered for they said 90 days. I mentioned that Apple has said they would replace the batteries for up to 2 years but the genius bar said only 90 days as they already replaced that battery with a new one. I said I also got a "New one" 2 weeks ago and that already died PLUS I installed the battery updater so what the hell?

They admitted the batteries are from Sony and Apple dropped the bomb on this one.

They also said they don't know if the new batteries they are handing out have physical changes or just updated ROMS.

I've been having the same exact problem where my battery symbol shows up as an X and turns off immediately after removing the AC adapter. Besides replacing the battery and using the battery update (which for me did nothing) is there any other steps I can take to resolve this from my home?
