Hi everyone,

I assume everyone has seen the new battery software fix for MBP/MB regarding some issues that supposedly should have them fixed.

Before the fix, I noticed my battery/power under System Profiler would read either 3400 and/or 5000 mAh, and it would change randomly after power down/restart (as well as showing 69% or 91% battery health on iStat pro).

At first I thought nothing of it, but then when the fix come up on Software Update with the issue addressed of shorter runtime or low amperage for batteries with full charge cycles less than 300 (mine only has 80 or so) I started to think maybe mine has a real issue. After the update, I still get the same issue showing different max capacity and battery health jumping from 69% to 91% at random shutdowns/restarts. I read on a previous post regarding resetting the PRAM (I think) that may help, and it did, but the issue persist.

So.. does have any idea if this is a problem I should take up to the Apple store? It's quite a drive there, so I was hoping to get some insight before taking it over for a check in. I have noticed my battery draining quite quickly compared to my previous Powerbook, so I'm wondering if this is something that should be taken care of.

Thanks everyone.

I'm having the same issues with my MBP battery. I'd suggest that you call Apple and see if they can't send you a replacement battery. I know on the support section of Apple.com there is more info.

What what I know (which isn't much), if you installed the battery update and are still having issues then Apple will send you a new battery, in exchange of your old one. I think they ask for a Credit Card number to make sure that you send in your old battery; if you don't send in your old one Apple charges your credit card for the new battery.
The Religious Right is neither.

Thanks for the response.

I hope to take it in this weekend and show a couple screen shots I've taken.
