Hi,

I need some shared experience with someone who has internet connection using their cell phone (I have tmobile service and sony erricson w810i) thru EDGE, GPRS,etc. How the speed connection and reliability on this? is it faster than dial up? possible like broadband high speed?. I'm on field for most of time at my job so this is probably my best option. Moderator I'm Sorry if this is not the right forum but I do try to use my Powerbook G4 12 rev B. Thanks for all info!.

I use a Blackberry Pearl to get internet access via bluetooth. It is definitely not broadband speeds, even with EDGE and full reception. More like 56K! It has it's uses, especially when I can't get internet access through wifi, but it is pretty slow.

I'm not sure how you would go about setting up the bluetooth connection with your w810i, but for the Pearl, I was able to find a script online as well as instructions on how to get everything setup. Sorry I can't be of any more help!

Good luck.

Speed-wise, it's going to be something like dial-up. You wouldn't want to download a lot of email or visit web sites with lots of graphics.

Not sure what country you are based in but here in the UK I have my Nokia 6280 hooked via Bluetooth to my MBP. With a 3G connection via T-Mobile, I get up to 60 KB/sec which is pretty good. There is a high ping time but once the page/object starts to load, is is pretty quick.

It drops out from time to time and sometimes I may need to try 2 or 3 times to connect but otherwise it is great.

60KB/sec? You sure it's not 60Kb/sec?
