Ok, so my MacBook is acting kind of weird the last couple of days. I don't have anything open and the MacBook's outgoing data speed is 13kb/s-15kb/s.. I log out, reboot the router and it keeps doing the same thing. What could it be?

Thanks in advance!

How are you measuring this?

Have you looked through Activity Viewer to see if anything's running that might be causing this?

Do you have LimeWire installed?

I have the iStat widget installed and it tells the outgoing data rate. Right now I'm not using my internet connection and the internet is acting normal. Could it be something with my ISP? I bet that if I call for help they'll tell me that I've got a virus! (lol)

I found the source of the problem. I had install an internet-backup app called Mozy. Although I deleted the app with AppZapper, a root process stayed on sending one of my folders on to their servers.

I was scared thinking that someone was hacking into my MacBook. I currently have the OS X firewall on and the router is set to forward no port, just in case!

Well, that's all!
