I'm looking for some (free) help with a frustrating problem. My iBook G4 power adapter connection is tenuous. Naturally I assumed it was the adapter, so bought another one. The problem, I discovered, is in the actual connection to the port of the laptop; it seems to be loose. I have to play around w/ the adapter constantly and frequently fail at finding the exact spot to charge the battery. I use heavy objects (cups, candles etc) to wedge against the adapter near the connection to hold it in place. This works about half the time.

Also, my battery life is about 45 minutes without charging!! Not good.

Google searches of this problem and potential solutions have yielded no results.
Can anyone help?

The DC-in board replacement is inexpensive, although a little tricky to do. The battery is probably past its usable life span. As far as your request for "free", you are already doing that!
