I just ran the new Disk Warrior on my MBP. It cleaned everything up fine, but when I restarted, the icon for the hard disk on my desktop had changed to an ipod icon. How do I get it back to normal???

1. Choose a better title for your thread next time.
2. Use a utility like Cocktail to clean your icon caches.
3. There's no step three, I think.

As Big Mac says, use a descriptive title-it's a rule we have here and it's for a good reason. Too many "Help!" threads and nobody would know what the issues were.
You might also consider the old "change what OS X does with the icons" dodge: use View > Show View Options and select "Show Icon Preview" then restart the computer. Now go back to View > Show View Options and unselect "Show Icon Preview." That should make OS X think about what the proper icons are, and if you're lucky, restore them.
You could also follow the instructions in this Apple knowledge base article. All of what I've said here is free; Cocktail is shareware.

1. Got Cocktail, cleaned all caches, restarted. No change
2. Read Apple page. It pertains to System 9 and below. Couldn't find info applicable to this problem.
3. Followed ghporter's instructions. No change.
 Any more suggestions?

but it's def your hard drive??
click once on it, hit apple-I.
in the get info window, click once on the icon, hit apple apple-X.
see if that does it...

I don't think that would do it. It's not an icon he pasted on. The Finder has wrongly identified the drive type for some reason. I thought clearing the icon cache would work. However, as an alternative to fixing the problem, he could paste a hard drive icon on it.
