Bought a used PB G4, has 512 of RAM in it. What kind of a bump in performance can I expect by upping this baby to 1 gig? Thanks

I think for the price of memory today you should notice good results. I noticed immediate results with my eMac which came with 512 megs of memory. Boot times were almost cut in half and programs launch much faster. Also the system seems more responsive overall.

My suggestions is to have a look at Mushkin.com as they sell quality memory and their prices are great. I just purchased a 1 gig stick of ram for my IBM T60 Thinkpad and it only cast me $42.10. If the price is right I would throw as much ram at it as you can afford, that's if you plan on keeping your PB for awhile.

Recognizing the inherent limitation of all laptops and that of course more RAM is better, most apps (including Photoshop PSCS2 and Aperture) ran OK with 1.5 GB RAM in my 1.67 GHz PB G4. Do add at least a 1 GB stick of RAM however; don't waste time adding 512 MB.
