I know that I am being very picky here, but they need to fix the back lit keyboard so that you can turn it on and leave it on all of the time.
The reason for this is the sensor thing does not work well.
I go down this path because of the Keys being grey and the letter and numbers being light grey. it makes them hard to see under nearly any circumstance.
the only way that i can really see them good is with the back light on.
Thought there may be a way to do this i have not found a way. I just want it to be on when I want at the level that I want and be able to turn it off when I feel.

There should be a simple way to do this though.

I don't have an MBP, but I can fix anything with duct tape and hangars. How about a piece of tape on the sensor?

Tape over the sensor? On a beautiful MBP?

Use this, it works great: Lab Tick You can change the preferences to make it remember the last setting and prevent OS X's auto backlight controls.

I wouldn't say they NEED to fix it. It would be a nice to have but not need. Now look at how long the back lit keyboard has been around, several years. I'm guessing that its not going to happen, apple has bigger fish to fry, i.e., getting leopard out the door. You could post some feedback to them.

I think that if there's a utility that lets you adjust this setting, then "they" don't need to do squat. And the above mentioned "Lab Tick" seems to do just this AND IT'S FREE. Leave Apple alone and let them pay attention to getting Leopard finished and released on time (the new time if that's as early as they can do it). Of course if there isn't something like this IN Leopard, THEN it's going to be time to start lobbying for 10.5.1 to include it!

We need to start a "What are they going to call 10.5.10" thread.
