Just wondering if anyone has had this problem before. When I go to close the lid to my MBP, it makes a creaking noise like the plastic is being stressed. It only happens when you make the move to close or open it but it doesnt make noise all the way as you close it or open it. This is happening on the left side.
Thanks!

Mine creaks when I open the lid, but not when I close it. I'm not sure why it does this. But, the hinges are much tighter on the MacBook Pros than the Powerbooks, which makes them much more stable, and so I guess this is what is causing the creaking.

Take it to a service provider. If you're lucky they can fix it with a rebuild.

My iBook has never creaked. I'd try and get that fixed.

My PowerBook creaked but it went away. I also knew somebody who had a PowerBook and the lid eventually cracked at the hinge. I don't know if the design is the same between PB and MBP.
If you decide not to take it in for service, be VERY gental (slow) when opening and closing it. If you open and close it rapidly, the friction could cause heat and more stress and make the problem worse. Do NOT open and close it quickly to "sand it down"--you'll just break it.
If you are leaving the computer in one spot, use the Sleep command from the Apple icon on the top left instead of closing it.
