My daughter's 15" 1.5GHz PB somehow killed its battery while she was out of the country. It won't recharge fresh batteries. (I FORGOT to put it under AppleCare when buying it used through this forum.)

A local service shop has had this computer for a month under a flat-fee repair service that was to have replaced the battery and fixed the problem. The computer was returned to me today without a new battery and unrepaired. (Don't ask...)

It's my understanding that Apple has a flat-fee service option for Powerbooks: something around $300/400. Does anyone know how to obtain this service?

Also: the battery that failed was replaced less than a year ago under the PB battery exchange in effect at the time. Is there any warranty coverage for that?

Let's not get into what I should do concerning my local repair shop, please: just want to know my options with Apple.

Many thanks in advance.

Many thanks.

Check to see if the battery will charge in another PB. PB G4s routinely (all of them in my operation) had failures of the power adapter to motherboard connection. The only solution is a new mobo (yes, $349 flat fee) or run the PB on batteries only, charged elsewhere. IMO this may have been what stimulated the invention of the mag-safe connectors.
