I recently purchased an iBook off eBay, this one: Apple iBook G3/800 14-Inch (32 VRAM - Tr) Specs (iBook - 14.1 LCD 32 VRAM/Late 2002 - M8862LL/A) @ EveryMac.com
. It's currently running OS X 10.3.9 (7W98) but I'd like to upgrade it to Tiger, but it won't boot off the DVD. I've reset the PRAM, NVRAM, and PMU. I've tried booting while pressing 'c', shift-option-command-delete, and option. The Startup Manager doesn't show the DVD but I can eject it / hear it spin up. Under System preferences, Startup Disk, I have tried rebooting with the DVD selected. I can run the installer, which reboots back into 10.3.9, so I know that the DVD is good(not intel). Are there any other ways to try and force it to boot from the DVD? from the BootROM? System profiler shows the DVD drive as the Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-R2212

Any ideas/suggestions/hints? I'm stumped

tried both, first they said they need to be run in os 9.x, so I rebooted into that, and tried running them again. This time they said they were for specific machines and wouldn't run. Is there a way to determine what firmware it's already running?

Well, I borrowed a friends CD version of Tiger and it booted with no problem. So, I can't boot of DVDs... That's not a HUGE deal, but does anyone have any ideas why?
