my 1 year old ibook G4 makes a clicking noise when i start it. It lasts for about 2 seconds but it happens everytime I restart or start-up the computer. Its been going on for a few months but I ignored it out of fear that the noise meant my computer was dying. (I realize that is not a good way the deal with these issues)

Thank you in advance for any response

Well, during restart, the computer tends to check the optical drive, to see if there's a disc in there (that's one sound)... other than that.. it could be initiating a fan, hard drive (which you don't want that to be the case), etc...

Regardless, make a backup of your data and go into an Apple Store if you can to have them listen to it.
