Can anyone help me think about where I would see the differences in performance between the old 2.33 and the new 2.2, both with 2 gb of Ram?

I would assume that the difference in performance would favor the 2.33, since it is a faster processor. The current 2.2 doesn't take too much of an advantage over its 800mhz bus since it still utilizes 667mhz ram. Graphics performance would be greater in the 2.2 since it has a superior graphics card even though the 2.2 only has 128mb.

prob since the 2.33 had 6x DVD Drives and the new 2.2 has 8x

As tiger has noted, barefeats.com is conducting speed tests. And as for burning or ripping DVDs, an external DVD firewire case with a 16X burner (about $100 altogether) would be much, much faster.

You've got a fast laptop--I'd be waiting for the early 'halo' to die down, for some consistent user opinions to emerge and stabilize. Let the dust settle.
