I'm about to start using my MacBook Pro, first gen on my desk at work. I can get a Mini to use but it's slow then the MacBook Pro. My concern is how will the DVI connector hold up to being used every day with an external LCD? From the wear and tear point of view I'm considering the Mini with 2GB of RAM and a faster drive (7200rpm) in it. I'll be running VMWare or Parallels and a lot of xCode. The only XP app is Lotus Notes. What do you guys think?

Fine. It's designed to be plugged in many 10s of thousands of times.

I've been plugging/unplugging the DVI port on my PowerBook multiple times (5 or 6 times at least) per day for about 3 years and it still works just fine.
